1.1 The Chair welcomed Members and members of the public to the meeting.
1.2 Apologies for absence were received from Janet Finch–Saunders AM and Rhianon Passmore AM.
2.1 The Committee received evidence from:
· Melanie Field, Executive Director, Wales and Corporate Strategy and Policy, Equality and Human Rights Commission
· June Milligan, Equality and Human Rights Commission Commissioner and Chair of the Wales Committee
2.2 The Equality and Human Rights Commission agreed to feed back Members’ concerns in relation to how human rights are covered in the curriculum to the Wales Committee, and to provide a note on any discussions held.
3.1 The Committee received evidence from:
· Dr Simon Hoffman, Associate Professor, College of Law and Criminology, Swansea University
· Professor Thomas Glyn Watkin, Formerly Head of Bangor Law School and First Welsh Legislative Counsel 2007-2010
4.1.a The Committee noted the additional information from the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government in relation to the Agency Worker.
4.2.a The Committee noted the letter to the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children in relation to Communities First Funding.
4.3.a The Committee noted the additional information from the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children in relation to refugees and asylum seekers in Wales.
5.1 The Committee agreed the motion.
6.1 The Committee discussed the evidence received under items 2 and 3.
7.1 The Committee considered and agreed the scope of the inquiry.
